Dooky's Random Thoughts

Dooky's Origins. For a very long time I used to have regular LAN (Local Area Network) parties with my friends. We would link up all of our computers with network cables throughout the whole house and we would play PC games. We lovingly called them "Vidiot Sessions". During these sessions we would occasionally create Gamer Tags/In-Game names.

In one of our Vidiot sessions in the early 90's (maybe 1994?), we were all trying to think of new tags. My old standby was "Atomic Dogg". My friend Fricis suggested I just take a new name from one of my favorite shows or movies. The movie I chose was "Boyz N The Hood", the film from 1991, directed by John Singleton. I loved that show, but because I was a big guy I refused to call myself Doughboy, and Ricky, Tre, and Chris were all too normal, so I gravitated to a lesser character who always cracked me up. The character was "Dookie". In the movie, Dookie wasn't the brightest bulb and would always joke around and he always had a pacifier in his mouth.

However, way back then there was no imdb to confirm things, so I thought his name was spelled "Dooky", and it gave me a chuckle. Then in my juvenile way, I thought it was even funnier to hear people say the word "Dooky". So "Dooky" stuck and I used it.

For the most part, I have been Dooky in gaming ever since and most of my old Vidiot friends still call me Dooky.

In some MMO's and other online games the developers wouldn't allow the name. So sometimes I would revert back to Atomic Dogg, or shorten the name to "Dook", but I was always Dooky in voice chat throughout the years.

That is how Dooky came to be.
